Vithas La Milagrosa Hospital, Madrid
La Milagrosa
New Emergency Area: due to the situation caused by Covid, the hospital needed a new emergency area adapted to current requirements and designed in a very intuitive way to mark the zoning and routes in the more than 1300m² executed.
The new emergency room has a more humanised and welcoming waiting area, with a space designed for the youngest children, the concept of which is transferred to the consultation rooms, triage, breastfeeding area, observation room and paediatric boxes, and gynaecology.
On the other hand, we have created spaces for adult care, including: 6 boxes, internal waiting room, CPR, ophthalmology and traumatology consultations, 2 observation rooms and a large nursing control room that provides service to the entire emergency area.
As this is a building constructed around 1904 with a bay extension in 1953, the installation of sanitation, sewerage and foundations required a new sewerage network layout, as well as structural reinforcement of the foundations including micropiloting and metal reinforcements throughout the wooden structure.
With regard to the materials, phenolic panels have been used for the walls and PVC for the flooring, except in the waiting room, where the flooring is porcelain, and touches of wood have been incorporated to provide warmth. It is worth mentioning the restored stone with the coat of arms of the Hermanos Paúles that welcomes us at the entrance.
We have also taken care of the electrical installations, low consumption LED lighting, fire protection, medical gases, voice and data, nurse call control with stop button, assistance and panic.
In parallel to the refurbishment of the Emergency Department, we carried out refurbishment work in the different units, including structural reinforcement work.
